The Daymaniyat Islands are surrounded by turquoise waters and stunning coral reefs that are perfect for snorkeling and diving. The Daymaniyats consist of nine islands and many submerged rocks, in an east to west alignment, which form the base for well, developed coral reefs. Abundant coral growth extends to up to 20 m depth, in water that has the highest clarity of any coral growing area in Oman. The species-abundance structure for the area is magnificent.

These islands offer 12 dive sites located 35 minutes from our Dive Centre, beautiful coral gardens, reefs, walls, large pelagic fish, turtles, rays, leopard sharks and our old friend the whale shark is a frequent visitor!!! The islands are formed from ancient fossil reefs and limestone that have emerged from the ocean. Some of the richest coral cover and best coral reef development in Oman occur in these islands, and they are the proposed sites for the country’s first national marine nature reserve.

The absolute best way to get to the Daymaniyat Islands for a day trip is by boat in Muscat. Since this is a protected nature reserve, access is regulated, which means you must either book a tour or apply for your own permit if you plan on taking your own boat. The trip by boat from Muscat takes around 40-45 minutes (at least with the tour we took, which was moving at quite a speedy pace)!

Activities to do on Dimaniyat Island

In addition to snorkelling and scuba diving, it provides a wide range of other activities. The list of must-do activities includes things like beach camping and bird watching. Numerous migratory species have made this island their home, including the endangered sooty falcon. Additionally, Oman's Dimaniyat Island is endowed with stunning coastal features and marine life, making it the ideal location for boat cruises and dolphin-watching excursions. On a good day, you might see whales and sharks in addition to the dolphins that are frequently seen around the islands.
